UMaine women’s soccer player earns 2nd All-American selectionWhat Happened to Rocky Colavito? Cleveland Guardians Legend Passes AwayNow could be the time for investors to snap up ( ) shares. That's the view of analysts at Bell Potter, which have just upgraded the beaten down miner's shares to a buy rating. What is the broker saying about Pilbara Minerals shares? With in the lithium miner falling and the broker expecting a lithium deficit in 2026, its analysts feel that now is an opportune time to load up on the company's shares. Especially as they are down heavily in recent weeks. Commenting on its change of rating, the broker said: We upgrade our PLS recommendation to Buy (from Hold) on recent share price weakness. The short position in PLS has fallen substantially in recent weeks, now 12% compared with ~20% since November 2023. The falling short position was associated with a quarterly rebalance seeing PLS drop out of the MSCI Australia index. Counter to PLS' weak share price, lithium markets have stabilised and commodity prices marginally improved. We calculate that recent supply curtailments from Australian producers (including PLS) have removed around 50kt of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent from the market (around 4% of 2024 supply). On our supply-demand modelling, the cuts result in a smaller market surplus in 2025 and brings forward our estimate of a market deficit to 2026 (previously 2027). It also notes that with such a strong balance sheet, Pilbara Minerals is well-placed to take advantage of any market deficit if and when it happens. It adds: PLS' robust balance sheet ($1.4b cash at 30 Sep 2024) continues to fund expansion initiatives, readying the company to capitalise on our forecast improvements in lithium prices. Big potential returns According to the note, the broker has upgraded Pilbara Minerals shares to a buy rating with a $2.95 price target. Based on its current share price of $2.29, this implies potential upside of 29% for investors over the next 12 months. If this proves accurate, it would turn a $5,000 investment into approximately $6,450 by this time next year. Commenting on its buy recommendation, the broker concludes: PLS operates a low-cost asset in a tier one jurisdiction, is diversifying through the lithium value chain, and provides a clean exposure to global lithium fundamentals and sentiment. While we expect lithium prices to remain volatile, we hold a robust EVdemand driven long-term market outlook. We believe higher prices are required to incentivise new sources of supply to moderate our forecast shortfalls from 2026.

might be in for a very difficult chase on a track which is offering inconsistent bounce with deliveries bowled from back of length coming at stump height, Australia’s top scorer said. Asked how the pitch would behave on Day Five, he said, “I think from the first innings, there was some movement, obviously. It was hard work in that first probably, especially the first 40 to 50 overs. But as the game’s gone on, the bounce has got less and more inconsistent. So we’re just getting more balls hitting the stumps. More balls are skidding through. The seam movement’s probably been the same. But just the amount of bounce is significantly lower. So that makes for pretty tricky batting there. Because more balls are hitting the stumps from a shorter length,” he said.
One of Australia's governments is considering the idea of a minister for as a new . or signup to continue reading NSW is conducting a state inquiry into as it has become a public health issue following the pandemic. Groundswell Foundation chairman Martin Blake said the impacts of loneliness are equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes or having six alcoholic drinks per day. "Loneliness has a measurable economic impact - in Australia, the healthcare costs associated with loneliness are estimated at up to $2.7 billion each year in a 2021 report from Curtin University," he said. A - filed for the inquiry - suggested Australia appoint a minister for social connectedness, similar to Japan and the UK's ministers for loneliness, to help raise the topic as a priority issue. Part of the isolation is not knowing how to get help. More than 130 submissions were submitted for the inquiry from organisations including , , , and . VIEW Club's submission said women in its clubs report lower levels of depression and anxiety. "The strong social ties formed within these clubs contribute to better physical health, lowering the risk of chronic diseases and easing the overall burden on healthcare systems," it said. State mental health minister Rose Jackson said besides being an emotional experience, loneliness has profound impacts on people's mental and physical health. "While some people call loneliness the silent epidemic, it doesn't have to be suffered in silence. If you are experiencing loneliness, please speak up and reach out," she said. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare analysis of (HILDA) data showed in 2022, one in six people aged 55-64, and in 65+ felt lonely. Councillor Drew Staunton is a volunteer facilitator of Chatty Cafe, a charity-based initiative that aims to increase social interactions between people in communities. While he was undecided about whether a dedicated Loneliness Minister might help, he did call for more funding to promote and advertise existing services that connect people. "I think part of the isolation is not knowing how to get help," he said. He hosts a table at a cafe inside the Upper Coomera Centre on the Gold Coast each Thursday at 10am for about an hour, where anyone can sit and chat with others. Mr Staunton said people who are socially isolated, feel bewildered, or have experienced loss, can go along for a "good chat with some lightheartedness [and] try and make some friendships." "There's a lot of gratitude and a lot of relief that they can come and just have a chat with someone ...[about] what's happening for them," he said. Mr Staunton said the benefit of being in a group scenario was potentially meeting someone and befriending them. "That can be one of the major factors on recovery and getting better... or feeling normal, when someone else has been through something similar and they've come out the other side, and they're OK and they can empathise with you," he said. Mr Staunton said the modern means of communication didn't help mature Australians with loneliness and social isolation. "Back in their heyday, things were different and it's social media and everything has changed so much now," he said. "Sometimes it's hard to articulate and move forward if you're not familiar with that sort of technology." While some people call loneliness the silent epidemic, it doesn't have to be suffered in silence. Bobby Blake, 66, of Upper Coomera, is a full-time carer to her partner, who lives with dementia. She goes to Drew's Chatty Cafe as an opportunity to mingle and relax with others. "It can be quite difficult to get out about and socialise, so something like the Chatty Cafe is a good platform to meet people," she said. "It's good to talk to people... if you've had an awful week or whatever, you can talk about things. "It's good knowing that people are willing to listen and hearing your story." Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are ready to be active in the January transfer window if their injury crisis does not ease. The Gunners could be without six defenders for Wednesday’s Champions League game against Monaco , while midfielder Thomas Partey is a doubt, too. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are definitely out of the match at the Emirates Stadium due to knee injuries. Gabriel, Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori all missed training on Tuesday afternoon, while Partey - who can fill in at right-back - was absent as well. Arteta hopes the injury crisis will ease during a busy month of fixtures, but if not then Arsenal are ready to move in January. “The window gives us an opportunity to strengthen the team if we feel that is needed and we feel that we have the capacity to do that as well,” he said. “We are on it and just have to assess the situation because it is changing every week. At the moment not for the better, but I’m positive that in a few weeks we’re going to be in a better place.” Arsenal’s injury crisis in defence means Kieran Tierney could start Wednesday’s game against Monaco at Emirates Stadium . The left-back last played for Arsenal in August 2023, when he came on against Manchester City in the Community Shield, and spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad. Tierney was a key part of the team during the early days of Arteta’s reign, but struggled more recently when the Spaniard asked for his left-back to tuck into midfield. Zinchenko took Tierney’s place in the side during the 2022-23 season and the Scot never got it back. And Arteta has revealed that if he calls upon Tierney now he will be deployed as a conventional left-back. “I would put Kieran more in his strengths,” said Arteta. “If we do what we have to do I would play him in positions, especially in attack, in situations and scenarios and spaces that he is more comfortable with. That’s a learning. “It is about the player having certain qualities. First is he willing to do it? Does he want to do it, yes or no? The other one: is he capable of doing it and does he understand it? “When a player has those three ingredients anything can happen. We see that with many other players. But if a player doesn’t really fill it, it is more of a problem and we as coaches we have to find solutions.”Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s feverish push to expand his global energy and infrastructure empire has been knocked by US bribery charges, but analysts believe the tycoon will bounce back. The bombshell indictment in New York on Wednesday accusing Adani and his associates of paying more than $250mn in bribes to secure lucrative government contracts sparked a frenzied sale of stocks. Within hours, India’s opposition leader Rahul Gandhi demanded Adani’s arrest and Kenyan President William Ruto scrapped airport and electricity deals worth about $2.5bn. The Adani Group dismissed the bribery charge as “baseless” but Shriram Subramanian, founder of corporate governance advisory firm, InGovern Research Services, said it has “huge” implications. “They will defend themselves by appealing, or go for a settlement,” Subramanian told AFP from Bengaluru. “It is a big blow to their reputation and corporate governance practices,” he added. The meteoric rise of Adani, once the world’s second-richest man, has been dogged with controversies - and allegations he benefited from his close ties to Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The conglomerate weathered previous allegations of impropriety that wiped $150bn from its market value in 2023, after a report by US short-seller Hindenburg Research accused it of “brazen” corporate fraud. “Given Adani’s clout, his resources, and his access, he has the capacity to bounce back, (and) we saw that the last time around,” Michael Kugelman, South Asia Institute Director at The Wilson Center told AFP. Adani’s empire spanning coal, airports, cement, and media has interests in countries ranging from Australia to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Israel, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Nepal. But Kugelman warned that this time the challenge is “unprecedented”. “If you’re indicted by the US justice system, the seriousness and the scale is altogether different”, Kugelman said. “Hindenburg pales in comparison to what he is facing right now”. The bribery charges are a huge hurdle for key investors, and sparking grassroots demands for greater scrutiny of major projects. In neighbouring Sri Lanka, activists opposing a $442mn wind power project by Adani Green Energy have demanded the deal be stalled. “The tolerance for risk among the investors who stuck with him during Hindenburg would be much lower,” Kugelman said. Adani is India’s largest private port operator, and operates key airports including in the financial capital Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the biggest city in Modi’s home state of Gujarat. The group is also involved in vast coal and renewable energy projects across the world’s fifth-largest economy. In October, Gautam’s nephew and board member Sagar Adani - also named in the indictment - told AFP there was “no political connection” between Adani Group and Modi’s government. Hemindra Hazari, a Mumbai-based markets research analyst, said that the conglomerate, a relatively new player in key infrastructure sectors, was backed by large investors who would otherwise have been cautious because it “was considered to be close to the ruling dispensation”. “Most of them invested despite the group’s limited managerial bandwidth and experience...precisely because...it was seen to be getting highly remunerative terms...which, in any normal market-based economy, would not have been possible,” he told AFP. A “significant component” of Adani debt was raised from foreign sources, including banks and institutional investors, he said, and “everything will slow down for them for now”. India’s government is yet to comment. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi however was swift to demand Adani be arrested - but telling reporters he knew that would not happen, alleging that “Modi is protecting him”. Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back saying the alleged bribery was linked to Indian states led by opposition parties. Subramanian believes it is just “a dent” to Adani’s reputation and that they will “continue to seek out and win projects across India and rest of the world”. But Kugelman warned the “reputational blows”, not only to the Adani Group but to India, were “severe”. As for the future, how the charges will influence incoming US president Donald Trump remains an “unknown”, Kugelman said. “I don’t think it’d really affect the broader India-US relationship”, he said. But he noted that Trump may eye a wily businessman like Adani “favourably”, or “leverage it for more favourable policies on tariffs”. Van Lith scores 17 to help No. 11 TCU women beat Brown 79-47This year is the 10th anniversary of Geoff Keighley's annual The Game Awards show and it sure feels like he may be ramping up to some big surprises. At other points this year Geoff has had to reel in expectations for his other shows— warning fans in June that Summer Game Fest would be more about announced games than big surprises and squashing hopes in August for a Silksong reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live. We've gotten no such tempering of the hype this time around and in fact Geoff already told viewers over the summer that The Game Awards are more of a place for big announcements and surprises than SGF is: past announcements have included Hades 2, Armored Core 6, Alan Wake 2, and Death Stranding. For several years I always anticipated a new Dagon Age trailer at the show, but with Dragon Age: The Veilguard now out I need some new regular attendees to hang my hopes on. I'm not at liberty to discuss what PC Gamer may or may not know about the show without my keyboard getting snatched away, but it feels fair to expect some exciting reveals this year for the 10th anniversary. We'll go over what's been revealed for the show down below along with when you can watch it and some of our suspicions about what could turn up. When is The Game Awards 2024? The Game Awards 2024 premiers at 4:30 pm Pacific on Thursday, December 12 live from Los Angeles. The show's official calendar invite lists it as a three and a half hour show which sure lends some likelihood to the idea that there's a lot getting crammed in this year. You'll be able to watch The Game Awards on YouTube , Twitch , Steam , TikTok Live , and a few other social media platforms. Here's when The Game Awards airs near you : 4:30 pm PDT, December 12 (Los Angeles) 7:30 pm EDT, December 12 (New York) 9:30 pm BRT, December 12 ( São Paulo) 12:30 am GMT, December 13 (London) 1:30 am CEST, December 13 (Berlin) 11:30 am AEDT, December 13 (Sydney) 1:30 pm NZDT, December 13 (Auckland) What's going to be shown at The Game Awards this year? As usual, Geoff has been posting teasers and confirmations online ahead of the show. And in some cases developers themselves have blown the surprise—looking at you, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. One thing we'll definitely see are all the awards, of course. You can check out the Game Awards 2024 nominees to see who's likely to get handed some trophies. Here's what else we know will definitely be turning up to the show based on Geoff's social posts: The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team. Hazelight Studio - Developers of It Takes Two will reveal their next game Borderlands 4 - A new trailer, including gameplay, for the next game Palworld - Will be making an appearance of some kind, likely to talk about the next game update Dying Light - Likely new info about Dying Light: The Beast Mafia: The Old Country - A "global reveal" for the prequel Mafia series game Warframe - An update on the Warframe 1999 update As usual for Geoff's events, rumors and alleged leaks are flying but none that are really substantiated. It's true that Hideo Kojima is showing up as an award presenter, but we shouldn't necessarily expect a new Death Stranding 2 trailer—it could happen though. A recently spotted Resident Evil 9 page on Metacritic has fans of the series anticipating an incoming announcement as well. It does seem like Capcom is pretty focused on Monster Hunter: Wilds right now though. Fans who are more lost in the sauce are asking whether there's a chance to see a new GTA 6 or Silksong trailer but neither of those seem likely. Rockstar tends to be rather happy to do things on its own without turning up to Geoff's shows and the Silksong copium is just the usual pre-showcase jitters. Other unlikely—but possible—predictions include a new game from Naughty Dog or God of War studio Sony Santa Monica, or a first proper look at Insomniac's Wolverine or Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 4. If you want some totally unconfirmed guesses and requests from me, I think it's about time for IO Interactive to show us something about that James Bond game it's working on and for Limbo and Inside developer Playdead Games to properly announce that third game it's allegedly been working on for years. But those are just shots in the dark.Solvay SA (OTCMKTS:SVYSF) Short Interest Up 25.4% in December
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Hailey Van Lith scored 17 points and Madison Connor made four 3-pointers and added 14 points on Sunday to help No. 11 TCU beat Brown 79-47. Van Lith added five assists, five rebounds and three steals and Taylor Bigby scored 11 points for the Horned Frogs. TCU (13-1) has won four games in a row since an 82-54 loss to No. 3 South Carolina on Dec. 8 at the Coast to Coast Challenge. Grace Arnolie hit three 3-pointers in the first five minutes and Olivia Young added another with 4:34 left in the first quarter to give Brown a 12-8 lead. The Horned Frogs responded with a 9-2 run to close the period, scored 12 of the first 14 second-quarter points to extend their lead to 13 points and took a 34-25 lead into the intermission. Bigby hit a 3 to open the scoring in the third quarter and TCU led by double figures the rest of the way. The Horned Frogs outrebounded Brown 54-28, including 20-6 on the offensive glass which led to TCU outscoring the Bears 27-5 in second-chance points. Isabell Mauricio led Brown with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting Brown (6-7). The rest of the Bears players combined to made 10 of 41 (24.4%) from the field. Arnolie added 13 points. TCU made 11 3-pointers on 27 attempts (41%) and the Horned Frogs' 148 this season are the most in Division I. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . (The Center Square) – Paula Scanlan is hopeful the narrative around gender ideology is shifting, especially as Republicans prepare for majorities in both chambers of the 119th Congress and a seat in the White House. “I am hopeful that with the majorities now that we will be able to get across the finish line,” Scanlan told The Center Square on Thursday, speaking of more legislation on the way to protect women's spaces. “Obviously, this goes beyond sports ... So ideally, I think that the biggest thing would be to federally pass something that says this is what a woman is.” Scanlan a day earlier was part of a panel where U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., announced that Republicans plan to soon introduce legislation to “protect children from transgender medical procedures.” A report from the advocacy group Do No Harm released four weeks before Election Day included documented evidence of such activity being performed on a 7-year-old . “We’ll be introducing the STOP Act soon,” said Marshall . “We are going to use the Commerce Act to punish people who perform any type of surgery, or who use any type of medications on minors.” STOP is an acronym for Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors. The panel said that the legislation is an important and necessary step to protect children. Scanlan and Marshall, a host with the American Principles Project, were on the panel alongside U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.; U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, R-Ill.; Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project; and Sarah Parshall Perry, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation. “We all know by now that so-called gender affirming care is anything but caring,” Tuberville said. “It is pure insanity and has caused irreversible damage to countless children. This isn’t about politics, this is about good and evil.” Scanlan is an ambassador for Independent Women's Voice and a former collegiate swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania. Swimming for the Quakers, she and teammates endured being not only on the same team but in the same locker room as a swimmer who for the first three years swam on the men's team. “I was a swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania and the administration, the university and the NCAA said , ‘Here's a man who wants to swim on your team, please accept him,’” she explained during the panel. “This entire situation really made all female athletes feel isolated and alone, and like they know where to go.” Scanlan said that it wasn’t just competing that isolated the female athletes. “Eighteen times per week, my teammates and I were forced to undress next to a 6-foot-4, fully-intact male,” Scanlan said. “As a female athlete, this was just something I couldn't even imagine. It was something I never imagined would happen to me when I went off to college.” The STOP Act is one of a few beginnings. U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., has proposed legislation seeking to protect women’s spaces on all federal property nationwide. This would include bathrooms, locker rooms and prisons. Scanlan said this shows that public opinion is on the side of her and the panel. “This is really the first time we're seeing more of these people in power stepping up and actually doing the right thing and saying enough is enough” she said. “Now, we are looking at entire teams that are feeling empowered to be able to boycott ... or object to competing against males. It's widespread.” A notable case of that is San Jose State, where Blaire Fleming's participation has led to seven opponents forfeiting rather than playing a women's team that includes a man saying he is a woman. Tuberville and Marshall emphasized they believe the majority of Americans would agree with the proposed legislation. "The American people are sick of this nonsense," Tuberville said . "It’s time we restore some sanity and get common sense back in this country." Scanlan said that while she supports the national legislation Republicans are considering, it is important for states to also continue to pass legislation. “I always remind people who are really excited about having a presidency that we don't know what might happen in four years," she said. "So, of course, it's also important to codify this in states. We are going to continue our efforts. There's still a lot of work to be done, and I don't really see it as a win until we've finished this on the state level.”
